Suits 2.16 “War” Review

Finally the time has come for the long awaited ‘War’ in the second season of Suits. In the finale, the viewers had a shocking surprise.

Though the battle was foreseen between Hardman, Jessica and Harvey, the fight that materialized was between Jessica and Harvey.

The debacle started, when Harvey baited Darby with a wager that he should not have made in the first place. This misstep landed him in deep trouble. This issue together with certain other events forced Harvey to pull out of the big firm and the partnership dispute.

The scenes in Suits are sometimes acted out so quickly that it confuses the viewer. For instance, the talk about the assets of Pearson’s and Darby’s act by Jessica, Harvey and Darby, was way too fast to comprehend.

But one thing was crystal clear in the conversation, and it was the battle of wills between Harvey and Jessica. Harvey is against the merger, while Jessica wants to see the merger happen so that the firm has a safe and secure future.

Harvey and Jessica are working at cross purposes here with Harvey not favoring a single partnership. He wants to gain the upper hand in his relationship with Jessica, which has so far given him a subservient position only. Jessica on the other hand wants to assert her dominance and keep Harvey subdued.

But this attitude of Jessica, especially when she tries to break up the bond between Mike and Harvey, is not proper on her part. It was really cruel of her to try at separating the two just because she wanted to have the edge.

But Jessica will have to face the consequences of her actions and also the merger issue, which will probably enter into another round with respect to the authority she believes, is hers.

With Jessica making enemies all round the firm; Louis strikes a friendship with Nigel Nesbitt. Nigel being the English version of Louis provided some humorous moments in the show. These two make a good pair but the bromance may be cut short with Louis deciding to place Nigel on the efficiency list.

Though the bromance did not take off as expected, two other affairs seemed to be set for a promising start. Scottie looked like she had some real feelings with regard to Harvey, when she voluntarily seeks out Donna and attempts to know him at a more personal level. This was certainly surprising and when she provides highly secretive documents just to get his attention so that he is not sued, was a bit going overboard.

And the long awaited consummation of Mike and Rachel takes place at last. Hopefully, the third season will have a lot more in store.
